The Iberville Traffic Resource App provides real-time, updated traffic information for commuters traveling through the Parish between both sides of the Mississippi River. Among its features are live Twitter updates related to service from the Plaquemine Ferry, live camera feeds of the St. Gabriel and Plaquemine Ferries, LA-1, and the I-10 Mississippi River Bridge, as well as maps displaying live traffic information in the vicinity of the Plaquemine Ferry and the I-10 Mississippi River Bridge.

This application was developed with the objective of assisting travelers in route planning and highlighting the pressing necessity for a bridge over the Mississippi River in Iberville Parish. LA 1 stands as the primary highway running north-south along the eastern edge of the western bank of Iberville and West Baton Rouge Parishes. Due to its proximity to the Mississippi River and the state capital city, Baton Rouge, these parishes are attractive for industrial, agricultural, and residential development. LA 1 directly connects to I-10, which is the sole Interstate Highway passing through either parish. The interchange located on the west approach to the I-10 Horace Wilkinson Bridge enables crucial access essential for transportation of goods and people to and from the west side of the Mississippi River.

Given the significance of these two highways intersecting at this juncture, it is evident that traffic levels at present surpass the interchange's capacity and worsen considerably during peak hours. Improving mobility is imperative to address this issue. However, the Mississippi River, while stimulative to growth in the area, poses a substantial obstacle to enhanced transportation. Downstream from the I-10 Bridge, the subsequent crossing is a ferry situated in Plaquemine roughly 12 miles south.

Depending on factors such as time of day, weather conditions, and origin/destination points, utilizing the ferry may be a feasible albeit severely limited option for accessing the I-10 Bridge. Yet, connectivity via this mode of transport proves highly inefficient for goods and services requiring passage across the river.

An envisaged new bridge spanning the Mississippi River in Iberville Parish surpasses all other studied bridge locations—both tolled and untolled—in regional congestion mitigation and efficiency with an estimated reduction of regional congestion by 1,453,398 hours.
